Only 4 S2's David Ferguson, John Ostulund, John Bachofner, Fred Michael. That was the qualifying order for race #1. I was victim of a Turn 10 incident on the first lap, which left me perched on the hill and watching the field lap a couple of times behind the pace car. Got going again, but couldn't unlap myself. Ostlund and Bachofner battled nose to tail the entire race, with John coming out ahead (oh, yeah, they're both John) Ostlund took the checker! Fred Michael got a S2 Cup hat with his new Tiga-based car.
Race #2, saw Ostlund out qualify me, but I got the jump on the start, and lead for about 3/4s of the race. A mistake in T2, and John got by. We raced side-by side into T14, and I regained the lead. But John came back with a solid pass braking into T5. On the last lap, he was defensive into T14, and I took the slingshot line onto the front straight, caught his draft, and pulled side-by side for a photo finish, with the unpainted black Van Diemen nose just slightly in front. A clean and hard-fought battle. Bachofner was third, and Fred Michael fourth.
I think John Ostlund leads the points with 21, and Bachofner returns to Portland with two S2 Cup hats. Looking forward to the next rounds...
